Gertrude began making chocolates in the kitchen of her home on Mark Avenue in the Pocono Mountains region of Pennsylvania in 1936. 

Shortly after returning home, Gertrude’s son Elmer joined the business after World War II. He spent $3,500 he received from his military service in the war to purchase machinery and equipment for the fledgling candy business.

In 1963, Gertrude and Elmer built their first large-scale manufacturing facility and retail store. Seven additions were made to that facility over the years.

David began working in the business as a young boy, gaining hands-on experience in a variety of production, retail, and management positions over the years.

In 2018 a new office building and factory were opened across the street from the old factory and next to the company’s flagship retail store in the Keystone Industrial Park, Dunmore, Pennsylvania. In June 2021, David Hawk retired and passed the baton to his children.

Today, all four of David Hawk’s children work and contribute in some capacity at our company. We utilize over 150,000 sq. ft. of modern production and distribution space to supply our customers with the products they have grown to love.

Our goal is to continue the tradition of bringing delicious chocolate covered happiness to the world for generations to come!
